Aims & Scope
Biomedical Statistics and Clinical Epidemiology (BMSCE) seeks to publish significant research on the development and application of statistical and epidemiological methods to problems arising from medicine and its applied sciences. The methods will embrace all aspects of the collection, analysis, presentation and interpretation of biomedical data. The range of topics is wide and will include methodological aspects of basic science, clinical trials, observational studies, diagnostic studies, ethics committees activity, health professionals training, database use in research, and health resource cost and management. It is intended that both the readers and authors of the Journal include biostatisticians, epidemiologists, computer and other scientists interested in biomedicine, clinicians, and governmental and other individuals concerned with public health. BMSCE is taking on the difficult task of being, at the same time, a setting for confrontation and exchange, a stimulus for reflection and research, a vehicle for the diffusion of studies and experiences, and an instrument to favour and support the creation of local systems that draw on the cross-disciplines of biomedical statistics and clinical epidemiology. The main aim of BMSCE, published four-monthly, is to improve dialogue among biostatisticians, clinicians and medical researchers, encouraging understanding of quantitative methods linked both to the problems that physicians face on a daily basis, and to the great challenges facing the modern public health that demand specific health policies.
